Rather bulky but highly floating thanks to the foam and the deer hair, it tends to imitate big sedges or terrestrials potentially fallen into the water. Best results are obtained in very rough water, near/under overhanging branches and bushes. It gives problems with thin leaders but in the water where it is normally used the leader thickness is not a problem. In case of calm water, it can be used as a skating fly. Excellent with trout in fast water, it is also well appreciated fishing chub in calm pools during very hot days and cast abruptly on the tail (not the nose) of the fish.
